Mutton Curry














  • Mutton ( sheep or goat)    - 1 kg
  • Onions (large)     - 2
  • Ginger     - 2/3 inches
  • Garlic     - 12 cloves
  • Cilantro (chopped)     - 1 c
  • Tomatoes     - 2
  • Chilli pwdr     - 1 Tbsp
  • Coriander pwdr     - 3 Tbsp
  • Garam Masala     - 1/2 Tbsp
  • Turmeric     - 1/2 tsp
  • Fennel pwdr     - 1tsp
  • Salt     - 2 tsp
  • Water     -  1 c
  • Oil     - 4 Tbsp

  1. Clean and chop the Mutton in 1 inch pieces .
  2. Cut the Onions into thin slices.
  3. Chop the Ginger and Garlic finely.
  4. Chop the Tomatoes and set aside.
  5. Heat the Oil in a big vessel and add the Onions when oil is hot.
  6. Sauté the Onions on Medium heat till they turn transparent.
  7. Add the Ginger and Garlic to this and sauté for 2 mins.
  8. Add all the Spices along with  1/4 c water and cover and cook on medium heat.
  9. Remove the lid after 5 mins and mash the masala.
  10. Add the Mutton and Cilantro and mix well for 2 mins.
  11. Add the Water,  cover and cook on medium heat for 1hr.
  12. Add Tomatoes and continue cooking for 1/2 hr.
  13. Check if the meat is cooked and turn off the heat.
  14. Serve after an hour or two  with Naan, Parathas, Rotis or Rice.
